Costa Rica Records Historic Social Impact in the 2026 Day of Good Deeds Movement

A nationwide volunteering day with record results

The Day of Good Deeds movement in Costa Rica concluded its 2026 edition with historic results, reaching more than 33,000 direct beneficiaries across the country and consolidating itself as one of the leading volunteering and social action initiatives nationwide.

The program brought together social organizations, companies, public institutions, and volunteers in activities carried out across all seven provinces, focusing on education, community well-being, environmental action, and support for vulnerable populations.

According to official results, this edition also expanded its indirect reach, generating a multiplier effect in communities and families impacted by the various social interventions carried out during the period.

A global movement with strong presence in Costa Rica

The Day of Good Deeds is an international initiative present in more than 100 countries, created in 2007 to promote solidarity and volunteering as tools for social transformation.

Costa Rica joined the movement in 2014 and has become one of the most active countries in the region, connecting projects between the private sector, academia, public institutions, and non-governmental organizations.

In the country, the movement is coordinated by the Fundación Construyendo Sonrisas, which acts as a link between social initiatives and institutional actors to facilitate project implementation nationwide.

Volunteering, companies, and communities as the core of impact

The 2026 edition stood out for the joint participation of companies, volunteers, and community organizations, which implemented more than one hundred social and environmental projects.

Activities included community support days, environmental cleanup campaigns, public space improvements, and assistance programs for vulnerable populations.

This multisector collaboration model has strengthened coordination among social actors and expanded the reach of impact across different regions of the country.

A data-driven approach to social impact measurement

One of the most relevant aspects of this edition was the implementation of more rigorous methodologies to measure the real impact of the actions carried out.

This allowed a distinction between direct beneficiaries and broader community-level impact, reinforcing the trend toward greater transparency and results-based volunteering models.

The movement has also evolved toward a continuity approach, where actions are not limited to a single day but form part of year-round processes.

A country strengthening its culture of solidarity

Costa Rica has positioned itself as a regional reference in structured volunteering initiatives, integrating multiple sectors into social impact projects.

These programs not only address immediate community needs but also strengthen civic participation and social responsibility.

The growth of the movement reflects a broader national trend toward collaboration between civil society, companies, and public institutions in the search for sustainable social solutions.
