For a short time, this man was a very recurring face in San José. He was always with his dog and his cat. He used to ask for money and let people pet his companions in return.
Both animals showed a great degree of affection for the man.
I remember two social media campaigns about him. One was when the animals were taken away by CENASA (National Animal Health Service). However, he was able to prove that he could take care of them and that they were in good health, managing to get them back.
And the other was during the New Year’s celebrations, when his dog got scared by the fireworks and ran away. He appeared in a video crying desperately and asking people for help to find his dog.
After the video, the man was reunited with his dog, who had been taken in by a family after seeing him wandering lost and scared.
I haven’t seen him in years.
