Start of the sports lighting installation
Work has officially begun to install a new lighting system in the sports areas of La Sabana, aimed at enabling the use of these public facilities during nighttime hours. The project is promoted by the Instituto Costarricense del Deporte y la Recreación in coordination with the Municipalidad de San José, as part of broader efforts to strengthen sports infrastructure and public space safety in the capital.

The plan includes the installation of high-power lighting towers and luminaires that comply with official standards for sports and recreational activities. This will allow training sessions, matches, and community use of the fields after sunset, expanding the functionality of La Sabana as Costa Rica’s most important metropolitan park.
