The Guanacaste Airport is about to transform its operational appearance. In an effort to capture the growing flow of high-profile travelers who choose Costa Rica’s North Pacific, the international firm Signature Aviation has announced the construction of an exclusive terminal for private and business aviation, whose opening is projected for the end of this year.
The project, carried out in a strategic alliance with concessionaire Coriport and the VINCI Airports network, is not only an infrastructure expansion; it represents Signature’s formal arrival in Latin America, positioning Liberia as a key logistics hub compared to other destinations.
Unlike conventional terminals, this new complex has been conceived under a hybrid model that combines aeronautical efficiency with “white glove” hospitality services. According to the plans presented, the terminal will include:
• Autonomous processing: Exclusive customs and immigration in order to expedite the entry of investors and VIP tourists.
• Executive comfort: Conference rooms and luxury lounges with direct access to the aircraft apron.
• Green commitment: In line with Costa Rica’s country brand, the design prioritizes native materials and includes charging stations for electric vehicles in a covered parking area.
Construction already has a national face: Costa Rican company Bambú Construcción leads the works, while daily operations will be carried out together with Aerologística, a local ally experienced in ramp services.
For airport managers, this investment is a logical response to the boom of the province. Guanacaste is no longer only a sun-and-beach destination; it has become a hub of real estate investments and corporate meetings that demand world-class private aviation standards.
The new terminal is expected not only to be a source of direct employment, but also an economic catalyst. Private flight traffic is usually associated with significantly higher per-visitor spending than the average tourist, which will directly impact the local economy of the surrounding coastal areas.
