Open Call for the Selection Committees of Proposals for the National Reading Festival 2025
San José, March 7, 2025. The Ministry of Culture and Youth (MCJ), through the Center for Artistic and Cultural Production (CPAC), announces the opening of the call for the formation of the selection committees for the projects that will participate in the National Reading Festival 2025 (FNL2025).
This call is open to professionals and individuals involved in the literary, academic, artistic, cultural, or commercial sectors related to literature, language, library science, education, and bookselling. They will take part in the evaluation process of projects seeking to be included in this fourth edition of the festival, which will take place from May 30 to June 1, 2025, at the Antigua Aduana in San José.
Costa Rican citizens and foreign residents in the country with proven experience in the aforementioned sectors and whose profiles meet the established requirements for each committee may apply.
Applications will be open until 11:55 p.m. on March 16, 2025.
Selected candidates must:
- Adhere to the participation guidelines of the call.
- Ensure an objective and transparent evaluation process.
- Comply with the schedule and objectives established by the production team.
- Participate on a voluntary basis, without financial compensation.
- Have no affiliations with participating proposals that could represent a conflict of interest.
Applicants may register in one or more committees, depending on their area of expertise:
- General Category: Evaluation of projects from bookstores, publishers, collectives, libraries, educational initiatives, and other proposals aimed at promoting reading. Knowledge or experience in this field is required.
- Author Category: Evaluation of applications from independent authors. Academic training in literature, philology, or related fields is desirable, along with experience in the sector.

The applications will be reviewed by the FNL2025 production team, which will verify compliance with the requirements. Preselected candidates will be contacted for an interview, after which the final selection of committee members will be confirmed.
