Minister of Public Security receives the Ambassador of the United States in Costa Rica

The Minister of Public Security, Mario Zamora Cordero, held a strategic meeting with the senior diplomatic representative of the United States in Costa Rica, Melina Hildebrand, to coordinate security actions and strengthen bilateral cooperation in the fight against transnational criminal structures.

The meeting, held at the facilities of the Ministry of Public Security, focused on reviewing the technical and operational assistance programs that the U.S. government provides to the country, especially within the framework of combating drug trafficking and strengthening border security.

During the working session, progress in the implementation of technological resources and training for Costa Rican police forces was discussed.

Melina Hildebrand underscored Costa Rica’s fundamental role as a strategic partner for the United States and reiterated her administration’s commitment to continuing support for the professionalization of the public security forces.

For his part, Minister Mario Zamora emphasized that the support of the diplomatic delegation is key to implementing crime containment plans and guaranteeing public safety. The meeting concluded with an agreement to maintain close follow-up on the joint projects underway for the year 2026.
