Cartago Resonates with Music: Costa Rica Piano Festival 2025 Arrives

From July 5 to 12, 2025, the historic city of Cartago will come alive with piano music during the third edition of the Costa Rica Piano Festival, an international gathering featuring free concerts, masterclasses, workshops, and competitions for pianists of all ages. Organized by Lanzo Luconi and his team, the festival aims to showcase both national and international talent at emblematic venues throughout the region.

Opening Concert at the Cartago Municipal Museum

When: Saturday, July 5 at 6:00 p.m.

Where: Cartago Municipal Museum (Calle 3 & Avenida 3)

Details: Free admission, first-come, first-served. Young Costa Rican pianists such as Luciana Astorga, Carlos Andrés Lara, Amanda Espinoza and others will perform in this declared Historical-Artistic Heritage site.

Academic Program and Activities

  • Masterclasses with Ana María Orduz (Colombia) and Vladimir Khomyakov (Russia/USA).
  • Workshops on improvisation and stage presence coaching.

Closing Gala at the National Theatre

  • Where: Teatro Nacional de Costa Rica
  • Performers: International stars Mijail Tumanov, Alexandre Dossin, Pamela Beine, Ana María Orduz, Vladimir Khomyakov, and special guest singer María José Castillo.
  • Tickets: ₡10,500 – ₡15,000, available at the theatre box office and online.
