U.S. airline Breeze Airways has begun operating in Costa Rica with a new nonstop route between Tampa, Florida, and Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO). The connection launched in October 2026, expanding air travel options between the United States and Costa Rica.

According to the Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT), the airline completed its first two flights on October 3 and 7, marking the start of a new connection between the two destinations.

Two Weekly Flights Between Florida and Costa Rica

The new route operates twice a week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, between Tampa International Airport (TPA) and Juan Santamaría International Airport, located in the province of Alajuela.

The flights are operated using Airbus A220 aircraft, with a capacity of 137 passengers. This connection provides a nonstop option for travelers flying between Florida and Costa Rica, whether for tourism, personal reasons, or business.

Introductory Fares Starting at $129 Each Way

Breeze Airways announced introductory fares starting at $129 each way for this route. However, the final price may vary depending on travel dates, seat availability, and the conditions of the selected fare.

The United States Remains a Key Tourism Market

The launch of this connection comes as the United States continues to be Costa Rica’s leading source market for international tourists.

According to ICT figures, approximately 1.2 million U.S. travelers entered Costa Rica by air between January and August 2026. The addition of new routes aims to expand arrival options and strengthen the country’s international air connectivity.

The ICT indicated that the launch is part of its airline attraction program, developed with the support of AERIS, the company responsible for managing Juan Santamaría International Airport.

A New Travel Option Between Tampa and San José

Breeze Airways’ arrival introduces another option for travelers flying between Florida and Costa Rica. In addition to facilitating nonstop travel, the route expands air service from one of the country’s main tourism markets.
