The Municipality of San José has launched a public call for Costa Rican artists to transform the city through urban art interventions. This initiative aims to revitalize public spaces in the central canton by promoting cultural expression and citizen engagement.

The contest is open to Costa Rican visual artists over the age of 18, including individual creators and artistic collectives. Proposals may include murals, urban installations, public sculpture, and ephemeral art. Experience in these formats will be positively evaluated.

Applicants must submit a portfolio, a conceptual description of the proposed work, a timeline, and an estimated budget. The municipality will assess submissions based on originality, technical feasibility, visual impact, and cultural relevance. Selected projects will receive logistical and financial support, as well as institutional promotion.

This initiative is part of a broader urban revitalization strategy led by the municipal administration, which seeks to integrate art as a tool for social cohesion, local identity, and cultural activation. It also aims to showcase Costa Rican artistic talent and foster dialogue between creators and communities.

Interested parties can consult the full contest guidelines on the official website of the Municipality of San José or visit the Department of Culture for assistance with the application process. The submission deadline will be announced soon.
