Enjoy theater, dance, and circus in Quepos communities
Following its stop in Goicoechea, the 2024 National Dance, Theater, and Circus Encounter (ENDTC) will offer a series of performances and workshops in Quepos communities this weekend.
The program in Quepos will take place from October 17 to 20 and includes offerings that celebrate national creativity and talent. This event is organized by the Ministry of Culture and Youth through the Teatro Popular Melico Salazar (TPMS).
Among the groups and artists presenting performances are: Juno Clown, Impromptu Teatro, Enjhambre, Colectivo R3M, Bryan Chavarría, and others.
The ENDTC was created under the Cultural Emergency and Rescue Law and focuses on revitalizing contemporary dance, professional theater, and circus arts disciplines.
As part of this second edition of the ENDTC, there will be public workshops offering activities such as dramatic play for children, the elderly, and people with disabilities; puppet workshops, casting, aerial dance, theater, movement, juggling, voice, and more.
National Symphony Orchestra and National Symphony Choir in Concert
The musicians of the National Symphony Orchestra and the singers of the National Symphony Choir come together to present the IX Official Concert of the 2024 Season.
The performances will take place on Thursday, October 17, and Friday, October 18, at 8 p.m., and on Sunday, October 20, at 10:30 a.m., at the National Theater of Costa Rica.
The concert will be conducted by Alejandro Gutiérrez, and the program will feature works by Marco Quesada, Mozart, and Sibelius, with the participation of prominent Costa Rican soloists.
Tickets for this concert can be purchased through the National Theater of Costa Rica’s website and box office: https://boleteria.teatronacional.go.cr/ with prices ranging from ₡6,000 to ₡18,000, depending on the selected seating. A 30% discount will be applied for students and senior citizens with ID, available only at the physical box office.

Celebrate the 127th Anniversary of the National Theater of Costa Rica
The National Theater of Costa Rica (TNCR) will celebrate its 127th anniversary this Saturday, October 19, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., with programming for all audiences.
The event will feature music, theater, literature, an exhibition combining art and history, and a special concert titled “Nuestras melodías,” with performances by artists such as Carlos Guzmán, Jenny Solano, Ricardo Padilla, Willie Granados, Bernal Villegas, Humberto Vargas, Álvaro Esquivel, Sharon Abarca, and Ghandi.
The activities will take place at the TNCR and the Vargas Calvo Theater.
Most activities are free, and interested attendees can request tickets at the National Theater box office from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., while supplies last. For the concert titled “Nuestras melodías,” tickets are priced at ₡12,000 for orchestra and balcony seats; ₡10,000 for box seats on the first and second floors; and ₡7,000 for third-floor seats. Visual Arts
Exhibition “We Are Celebrating… Let’s Celebrate It!”, a project by the Benemérita National Library and the Cultural Association Amigos sin Fronteras. The exhibition includes giant masks, magical masks inspired by nature, masks based on Costa Rican legends, traditional masks, and more. Visit the exhibit Monday to Friday, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., at the National Library. Free admission. Available until October 31, 2024.
