Costa Rica continues its path in Formula 4: Evan Michelini set for the 2026 season

A young Costa Rican driver returns to represent the country in European competition

Costa Rican driver Evan Michelini will once again represent Costa Rica in European Italian F4 Championship for the second consecutive year, beginning his 2026 season on May 10 at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, the venue for the opening round of the championship.

Michelini will compete with AKM Motorsport, under the structure and support of team principal Marco Antonelli, a recognized figure in European motorsport development.

Experience gained and preparation for 2026

The young Costa Rican arrives to this season following his debut year in 2025, where he completed his first campaign in the European championship and progressed in adapting to single-seater racing. This prior experience provides him with a solid base to face a demanding and competitive calendar on iconic Italian circuits.

Michelini’s preparation includes not only technical work with his European team but also an intensive physical and technical conditioning program to optimize his performance throughout the season, with the clear goal of being competitive from the very first round.

2026 Italian Formula 4 calendar

The Italian F4 Championship calendar for 2026 features several of the most representative tracks in European junior motorsport, where promising drivers compete as they aim to climb the ladder toward higher categories:

  • May 10: Misano
  • May 24: Vallelunga
  • June 21: Monza
  • July 26: Mugello
  • September 6: Imola
  • September 20: Misano (second round)
  • October 25: Mugello (final round)

Michelini seeks to consolidate his place in the category, use each race as a learning opportunity, and continue securing support that allows him to complete the season and advance his international motorsport development.

What this means for Costa Rican motorsport

This new challenge represents an important step not only for Michelini’s career but also for Costa Rican motorsport. The continuous presence of a Costa Rican driver in European Formula 4 helps position the country within the international junior single-seater environment, considered one of the main development paths toward categories such as Formula 3 and, potentially, Formula 1.

The support of professional structures such as AKM Motorsport and high-level technical preparation strengthens Michelini’s growth potential within a highly competitive sport, while proudly representing Costa Rica against European teams and drivers.
