Volunteer Opportunity to Help Create Tacaco Forest in Curridabat

Curridabat will host a volunteer day on August 21 to support the creation of Tacaco Forest, a new urban restoration space located in Aleste. The initiative aims to bring the community together to plant native species and strengthen biodiversity within the city.

The project, led by Portafolio Inmobiliario, plans to plant 1,500 trees representing 67 native species across an area of 500 square meters, using the Miyawaki method, which creates dense and diverse urban forests. According to the organizers, it would be the first certified pocket forest in Central America under the SUGi Pocket Forests program.

Participation Details

The volunteer day will begin at 8:00 a.m. at the Main Plaza of Aleste, in Curridabat. Prior registration is required and places are limited. Organizers will provide planting materials, refreshments, and a snack.

Volunteers should bring a reusable water bottle, sunscreen, a cap or hat, comfortable clothing, and sturdy shoes. In addition to the planting day, Tacaco Forest will include ongoing monitoring and maintenance activities involving students, families, and members of the participating community.
