About The Museum of Costa Rican Art will inaugurate the exhibition “Topographic Memory. Revision 1999–2026”

The Museum of Costa Rican Art will inaugurate the exhibition “Topographic Memory. Revision 1999–2026” on Thursday, May 21 at 7:00 p.m., as the first national retrospective dedicated to Federico Herrero, the only Costa Rican artist to receive an award at the Venice Biennale. The exhibition brings together around 30 pictorial works, archives, and ephemeral interventions exploring his relationship with color, urban space, and the visual memory of San José and Costa Rica.

The exhibition includes an Archive Room and an ephemeral pictorial intervention on the museum terrace, accompanied by smaller-scale three-dimensional pieces that reopen this space to the public after several years closed. It will remain open until November 2026 and seeks to reconnect visitors with a body of work deeply linked to everyday life and the urban experience of Costa Rica.

Location

Museo de Arte Costarricense (MAC)
