From June 4 to 7, 2026, Sarapiquí will host the North American Bird Fair Costa Rica 2026, an international gathering aimed at positioning the country as a leading destination for birdwatching tourism and sustainable tourism. The event will bring together birdwatchers, nature photographers, tour operators, educators, families, and conservation specialists, with a program that includes field trips, talks, educational spaces, exhibitions, and photographic experiences.
The event will also create opportunities to connect with nature tourism initiatives and environmental conservation projects, generating opportunities for local communities, guides, photographers, and businesses linked to this sector. One of the central components will be the program “El Pajarerito / The Little Birder,” aimed at children interested in birds and nature, with field trips, games, contests, crafts, and bird song recording sessions, thereby strengthening environmental education from an early age.
