Korea Story Festival 2026: twelve days to experience Korea in the heart of San José

The Korea Story Festival 2026 is a Korean cultural event that will take place from July 8 to 19 in Barrio Escalante, San José. It is organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Costa Rica and Distrito G, with activities designed to let visitors experience Korea through all five senses.

Festival highlights

For twelve days, Barrio Escalante will become a “window into Korea,” featuring gastronomy, cinema, beauty, photography, and cultural experiences that showcase Korean life, history, and identity. The festival aims to give visitors the opportunity to taste, discover, learn, take photos, be inspired, and create lasting memories centered around Korean culture.

Korean food trail

From July 8 to 19, twelve restaurants in Barrio Escalante will offer special Korea-inspired menus, including traditional dishes, contemporary street food, and desserts. Visitors who order these special menus will be able to participate in the festival’s grand prize drawing, linking the culinary experience with interactive activities.

Photography exhibition and film festival

At the same time, from July 8 to 19, the photography exhibition “Serving Korea, Telling Stories” will present the country’s history through its dining table, showing how every dish and meal reflects family, tradition, and dedication. In addition, from July 9 to 11 at 6:00 p.m., the Korea Film Festival 2026 will take place at Cine Magaly, featuring three selected films with free admission on a first-come, first-served basis and no reservation required.

K-Beauty classes

The Sejong Cultural Academy will offer K-Beauty classes from July 13 to 16, taught by experts traveling directly from Korea. The sessions will focus on professional skincare and makeup techniques. Participation is free, space is limited, and prior registration is required. The Embassy will announce soon how to reserve a place in these sessions.
