The fifth edition of Fiesta de la Lectura Costa Rica will take place from September 11 to 13, 2026, at the Antigua Aduana in San José, bringing together publishers, bookstores, writers, institutions and cultural projects.
Organized by the Ministry of Culture and Youth, the event aims to promote access to books and encourage reading as a space for connection, discovery and cultural exchange.
This year, Qatar will be the guest country of honor, adding an international dimension to the celebration and creating an opportunity for cultural exchange between Costa Rica and the Arab world.
The 2026 edition will also honor Costa Rican illustrator, comic artist and graphic novelist Eduardo “Edo” Brenes, founder of Pulpo Press, in recognition of his contribution to graphic storytelling, illustration and the promotion of reading through new forms of visual expression.
The event will be organized around three main areas: a Commercial Exhibition, bringing together publishers, bookstores and distributors; an Authors’ Exhibition, highlighting independent writers and emerging projects; and an Institutional Exhibition, featuring libraries, organizations and institutions involved in books, reading promotion and cultural rights.
Visitors will have the opportunity to discover a wide range of literary and cultural projects and explore different forms of storytelling and creative expression over three days at the Antigua Aduana.
