The Boyeros Festival will take place on Saturday, November 28, and Sunday, November 29, 2026, at La Sabana Metropolitan Park in San José. The event will celebrate Costa Rica’s traditional ox-cart culture, with free activities for the whole family.
On Saturday, November 28, the program will include a gathering of ox carts and teams of oxen, traditional cimarrona bands, marimba music, folk dancing, and concerts. These activities will lead up to the traditional ox-cart drivers’ parade, scheduled for Sunday, November 29.
The 2026 edition will also pay tribute to Costa Rican National Marimba Day, celebrated on November 30. The event is part of the cultural season “Tiempo de Compartir” (A Time to Share), organized by the Ministry of Culture and Youth.
