Delberth Castellón, an oboe player from the OSNCR who has previously conducted the orchestra, takes on his first experience conducting outside the Greater Metropolitan Area (GAM). He shared, “This week we will begin rehearsals for the concerts in San José and Guanacaste, visiting various communities and schools with a repertoire full of energy and brilliance. We will perform music by great universal composers such as Rossini, Bernstein, and John Williams, as well as works by Costa Rican composers Carlos Guzmán and Vinicio Meza. We invite the residents of these areas to join us for these concerts.”
In addition to the concerts with the OSNCR, on Tuesday, March 18, an OSNCR quintet will perform for students at the Samara High School. According to the National Music Center, the institution to which the OSNCR belongs, this format is used in educational centers without gymnasiums or adequate spaces for a full symphonic orchestra concert.
