The WordPress Costa Rica community is launching a series of free Meetups in Cartago, Heredia, San José, San Carlos, and Puntarenas to bring digital technology closer to entrepreneurs, students, and professionals throughout the country. The workshops and talks will cover WordPress, e-commerce, artificial intelligence, and digital marketing as a lead-up to WordCamp Costa Rica 2026, which will take place on September 18–19 at Universidad Central.
A Community Growing Beyond the Capital
The WordPress Costa Rica community is expanding its presence across the country. This new phase of Meetups brings free technology education directly to five regions with greater frequency and reach than ever before, serving as a preview of the country’s largest WordPress event.
WordPress Costa Rica Meetups are free, public gatherings where anyone—regardless of technical background—can learn, connect, and become more comfortable with digital technology.
Cartago, Heredia, San José, San Carlos, and Puntarenas will host these traveling events during the months leading up to WordCamp Costa Rica 2026. This new chapter also marks the evolution of the event itself, moving beyond the name WordCamp San José to become a truly national event.
“WordPress powers more than 40% of all websites worldwide. Now, the Costa Rican community is bringing that power directly to your region.”
What Is a WordPress Meetup?
WordPress Meetups are informal gatherings organized by community volunteers. They provide collaborative learning spaces where experienced speakers share practical knowledge about topics that are transforming how people build businesses and work in the digital age.
No previous experience is required to attend.
Participants can expect:
- Talks and presentations on WordPress, web design, and development.
- Hands-on WooCommerce e-commerce workshops.
- Sessions on artificial intelligence for digital businesses.
- Digital marketing strategies for entrepreneurs.
- Networking opportunities with the local technology community.
- Direct guidance from experienced members of the WordPress ecosystem.
Technology for Everyone: The Mission Behind the Meetups
The primary goal of these events is to democratize access to digital technology.
As an open-source platform, WordPress allows anyone to create a website, online store, or digital project without relying on third parties or making significant financial investments.
The community wants entrepreneurs, small businesses, students, and professionals across Costa Rica to understand that they can build their own online presence. Creating an online store, portfolio, or blog does not necessarily require a development team—it requires knowledge, and that knowledge is offered free of charge through these Meetups.
“WordCamp is more than a technology event; it is a meeting place for people who believe in the power of collaboration and shared knowledge.” — Vanessa Peper, WordPress Costa Rica.
Participants will also have the opportunity to meet active members of the Costa Rican WordPress community, who can provide free guidance and support for their digital projects.
A Path Toward WordCamp Costa Rica 2026
The Meetups serve as the gateway to the country’s flagship WordPress event: WordCamp Costa Rica 2026.
This edition expands its national reach by involving more communities and promoting a more inclusive vision of Costa Rica’s digital ecosystem.
WordCamp Costa Rica 2026 will take place on September 18 and 19, 2026, at Universidad Central, bringing together hundreds of developers, designers, entrepreneurs, digital marketing professionals, and technology enthusiasts from across Costa Rica and Central America.
