Costa Rica is preparing to host one of the most important karting events in Latin America: the 2026 Latin American Karting Championship. The competition will bring together more than 200 drivers from across the region, marking a milestone for national and regional motorsport with an unprecedented level of participation in the country.
Date, Venue, and Categories
The championship will take place from May 15 to 17, 2026, at the P1 Speedway circuit, located inside Parque Diversiones in San José.
The event will feature 13 different categories, ranging from youth development divisions to high-performance classes, allowing drivers of various ages and experience levels to compete.
International Participation and Costa Rican Talent
In addition to Latin American drivers, the event will attract international competitors, including champions and high-level racers from other parts of the world, raising the competitive profile of the championship.
Among the most notable Costa Rican representatives are Danny Formal, one of the country’s most recognized motorsport drivers, and Sofía Calderón, a rising karting talent with important regional titles.

Hosting this championship positions Costa Rica as a key hub for Latin American karting while offering local drivers the opportunity to compete at the highest level without leaving the country. Gerardo Moreno, president of the Costa Rican Karting Association, highlighted that these figures reflect the growth of karting in the region and the increasing competitiveness of its drivers.
Additionally, the event is included in the official calendar of the National Karting Championship, allowing local drivers to earn points for both the national and regional competitions.
