The José Figueres Ferrer Cultural and Historical Center (CCHJFF) invites its visitors on a journey through time with the exhibition “Witnesses of the Past,” a curated collection of objects from the Regional Museum of San Ramón, each linked to the history and development of this Western canton.

According to the CCHJFF, this exhibition exemplifies collaborative work and institutional solidarity, encouraging visitors to appreciate the region’s heritage and local history. The displayed items include agricultural tools, materials linked to the development of education, personal belongings, and artworks by recognized local artists, among other historical pieces.

Wilmer Oconitrillo Espinoza, director of the CCHJFF, spoke about the exhibit, highlighting the closeness and mutual support between two emblematic institutions of the Western region. “A trip to the past is always a source of wonder, imagination, and nostalgia, but also of learning. In the rudimentary, we discover the ingenuity of our ancestors, prompting us to revalue the efforts that shaped our current society—how, from the basics, meaningful foundations were laid. This perspective allows us to appreciate the convenience of modern life. The exhibition invites families to learn and engage in dialogue; to turn off technology and transport ourselves to a distant time,” said Oconitrillo.

Throughout August, San Ramón celebrates its Patron Saint Festivities—a celebration rich in tradition. For this reason, the CCHJFF contributes with culturally valuable activities that allow locals and visitors to enjoy the region’s richness and diversity.

“Witnesses of the Past” is open to the public from Tuesday to Saturday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Olger Villegas Gallery of the José Figueres Ferrer Cultural and Historical Center, located in the heart of San Ramón, until September 6, 2025. Admission is free.
