Cartago Boosts Employment with 100% Free Scholarships to Enter the Medical Industry

Technical Training to Strengthen Local Talent

The province of Cartago is promoting new employment opportunities through a 100% free scholarship program aimed at technical training for entry into the medical industry. The initiative seeks to strengthen local talent and facilitate access to one of the country’s fastest-growing productive sectors.

The medical device industry has consolidated itself as one of the main drivers of exports and job creation in Costa Rica, especially in areas outside the Greater Metropolitan Area.

Institutional Alliance for Productive Development

The program is carried out in coordination with public institutions and productive sector stakeholders, with the objective of responding to the demand for qualified personnel. The Instituto Nacional de Aprendizaje (Costa Rica) (INA) participates in providing specialized technical training aligned with industry requirements.

Likewise, the Ministerio de Trabajo y Seguridad Social (Costa Rica) (MTSS) promotes employability and training programs as part of its labor insertion and unemployment reduction strategies.

The attraction and consolidation of companies in the sector has also been supported by the Promotora del Comercio Exterior de Costa Rica (Costa Rica) (PROCOMER), which identifies the medical industry as a strategic sector for national development.

Medical Industry as an Economic Axis in Cartago

Cartago has positioned itself as a relevant hub for advanced manufacturing companies, including medical devices. This sector requires technical profiles trained in production processes, quality control, and international standards.

According to data from the Banco Central de Costa Rica (Costa Rica) (BCCR), the medical device sector is among the activities that contribute most to the country’s exports, consolidating Costa Rica as a regional benchmark in specialized manufacturing.

Opportunity for Labor Insertion

The 100% free scholarships represent a concrete opportunity for individuals interested in training and accessing formal employment in a high-demand sector. This type of program helps close skills gaps and strengthen regional economic development.

The coordination between technical training, the business sector, and public institutions reinforces the strategy of generating quality employment and promoting productive linkages in Cartago and other regions of the country.
