The first Women’s Symphony Orchestra of the National System of Music Education (SINEM), bringing together 70 musicians from Costa Rica and other Latin American countries, will make its debut with two free concerts to celebrate International Women’s Day.
Performances: Friday 6 March at the INCAE Business School campus in La Garita, Alajuela, and Saturday 7 March at the National Theatre of Costa Rica, both at 7:00 p.m.The program will feature works by women composers such as Fanny Mendelssohn, Louise Farrenc and Costa Rican composer Mariana Cruz, as part of an MCJ and SINEM initiative to promote women’s leadership in symphonic music.
