Amón Cultural 2026 will take place on March 14 in San José

Amón Cultural 2026 will be held on Saturday, March 14, in the Amón and Otoya neighborhoods of San José, with a day of around 12 hours filled with art, history, and urban life. This twelfth edition will offer more than 115 free activities spread across about 38 venues, including parks, museums, heritage houses, galleries, cafés, and other cultural spaces in the area. Under the theme “Heritage in today’s light,” the festival invites people to rediscover the historic heart of the capital through concerts, performing arts, exhibitions, guided tours, workshops, fairs, and family activities, as well as content related to wellbeing, the environment, and gastronomy.

The event is organized by the Tecnológico de Costa Rica (TEC) and Casa Cultural Amón, with support from the Municipality of San José, the Centro Cultural de España, Coopecaja, and various cultural collectives and local initiatives. The 2026 edition will be dedicated to Costa Rican chef Santiago Fernández, co‑founder of projects such as Silvestre, Cantina Conejo Fishy, and Gilbertas Pizza, in recognition of his contribution to the gastronomic and cultural revitalization of Barrio Amón. In addition, the program includes a photography contest with categories for professionals, amateurs, and drone video, aimed at encouraging more people to observe and document urban heritage from contemporary perspectives.
