The prestigious annual list 52 Places to Go in 2026 from the American newspaper The New York Times included the Osa Peninsula, in Costa Rica, as one of the most recommended destinations to travel to this year, consolidating the country as a tourism protagonist on the international stage.
According to the selection published by the New York media outlet, the Osa Peninsula ranked fourth in the global ranking, standing out for its pristine nature, exceptional biodiversity, and a range of experiences that distinguish it from other traditional destinations.
The article from The New York Times highlights that this Costa Rican region, located in the South Pacific, offers a balance between tropical rainforests, uncrowded beaches, and rich wildlife that attracts travelers seeking direct contact with nature.
Among the attractions emphasized by the publication are the lush forests of Corcovado National Park, recognized by experts as one of the places with the highest density of species on the planet, and the marine ecosystems surrounding islands such as Isla del Caño, ideal for diving and snorkeling.
The Osa Peninsula is also valued for its less crowded environment compared to other traditional tourist destinations, as well as for the growing development of sustainable infrastructure in areas like Uvita, which add lodging, gastronomy, and outdoor activity options without losing the natural essence that characterizes the territory.
