The 24th Costa Rica International Book Fair (FILCR 2026) will open this Saturday, August 22, at the Antigua Aduana in San José and will run through August 30. The event will bring together literature, art and cultural activities, with free admission throughout the nine-day fair.
The fair will feature 129 stands and the participation of 68 publishers, bookstores and independent businesses, along with more than 60 Costa Rican and international authors.
There will also be a collective space showcasing books by 25 self-published authors, providing an opportunity to discover emerging writers and independent literary projects.
The program will include book launches, workshops, children’s activities, exhibitions and meetings with authors.
International guests during the opening weekend include Mexican writer and screenwriter Guillermo Arriaga, artist and illustrator Memo Plastilina, Mexican poet Gilraen Eärfalas, and Guatemalan writer Méndez Vides.
The return of FILCR to Antigua Aduana will once again transform the historic venue into a meeting place for readers, writers, publishers and literary projects.
The fair aims to bring books and literary creation closer to the public through a diverse cultural program that will be free and open to everyone throughout the nine-day event.
