Night Safari: Stories, Duels and Mysteries of August in San José

ChepeCletas is organizing a nighttime walking tour this Thursday, August 13, through downtown San José. The tour, titled “Night Safari: Stories, Duels and Mysteries of August,” will explore historical events and stories connected to the month of August.

The walk begins at 7:00 p.m., with the meeting point at Parque Nacional, next to the National Monument. The cost is ₡5,000 per person, while children under 12 can participate for free.

During the safari, participants will discover stories such as the inauguration of electric street lighting in 1884, when San José became one of the first cities in the world to introduce this technology, as well as the murders of Dr. Ricardo Moreno Cañas and General José Joaquín Tinoco.

The tour will also explore the emblematic Duel of Honor in Costa Rican history, along with major international events that took place in August, including the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and the construction of the Berlin Wall.
