The Japanese Film Festival 2026 will take place from June 26 to July 18, organized by the Embassy of Japan in Costa Rica in collaboration with Costa Rican institutions and with the support of The Japan Foundation. Six films will be screened at different venues across the country thanks to the collaboration of the Municipality of Moravia, Cine Magaly, and the Juan Santamaría Historical Cultural Museum. The program features stories ranging from everyday life, romance, comedy, and drama to animation and horror.
All screenings will be free of charge. Admission to Cine Magaly and the Juan Santamaría Historical Cultural Museum will be on a first-come, first-served basis until capacity is reached, with no prior reservation required. The screening in Moravia does require advance registration through the link provided on the festival’s official page. The festival aims to strengthen cultural ties between Japan and Costa Rica while offering audiences a window into different aspects of Japanese society. Detailed information about each film is available on the Embassy’s official social media channels.
