On Sunday, June 22, the National Museum of Costa Rica will come alive with color, music, and culture during the “World Heritage Festival,” a free, family-friendly celebration that pays tribute to our traditions, knowledge, and cultural expressions.
Starting at 9:30 a.m., the museum gardens will transform into a vibrant stage for a diverse and exciting spectacle, featuring puppetry, live music, Creole swing dance performances, a handicraft fair with unique identity, and a variety of gastronomic offerings.
Agenda
The day begins at 9:30 a.m. with the puppet show Namaitmi… Dreams of Water, a production by Lunayena Puppets inspired by the Bribri indigenous legend of Sibö and the Mischievous Frogs. This visually poetic performance carries messages about nature and is designed to enchant the whole family.
At 11:00 a.m., the celebration continues with a concert by the Youth Symphony Band of the National Music Institute, directed by maestro Andrés Porras, with a special performance by the dance company La Cuna del Swing, led by Ligia Torijano. The repertoire will include pieces such as El negrito de Esquipulas, Alajuelita, Las esferas del Diquís, and other traditional and danceable rhythms.
Admission is free for nationals and residents upon presentation of a valid ID or residency document. The event will take place in the museum gardens, providing a safe and welcoming environment for families.
