Alajuela will transform into a cultural epicenter with the celebration of the 3rd “El Héroe” Book Fair, organized by the Juan Santamaría Historical Cultural Museum (MHCJS) and the Municipality of Alajuela. This event, which will take place on Saturday, April 26, and Sunday, April 27, promises to be a unique gathering between writers, publishers, and the public, with a varied program for all tastes.

According to the MHCJS, this fair has become a benchmark for promoting reading and local culture, turning into a space where books, music, art, and traditions come together in one place. The fair will take place on the street located in front of the MHCJS.

With an inclusive and family-friendly approach, this event will feature the participation of renowned national publishers such as Editorial Costa Rica, Editorial of the Universidad Estatal a Distancia, Editorial of the Universidad Técnica Nacional, Editorial Púa, H&H Editores, Editorial Casa Garabato, Editorial Círculo y Punto, and many more.

Additionally, attendees will be able to enjoy the presence of renowned authors and writers, who will share their works and experiences with the public, including: Rodolfo González Ulloa, José Luis Madriz, Natalia Obando, and Isabel Villarevia Ureña.

Program. From the inauguration, scheduled for 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 26, until the closing of the event on Sunday, April 27, there will be workshops, readings, book presentations, and concerts.

Highlights include book presentations with authors such as José Luis Madriz and Carlos Manuel Villalobos, who will showcase their most recent works. There will also be concerts featuring artists such as Wilson Arroyo, Palusanto, and traditional music groups like “Con alma de ticos” and a cimarrona.

The program will also feature the show “Cinema in IV Impromptus” by the Impromptu Teatro group, as well as reading animation workshops aimed at young people and seniors, organized by Editorial Lúdica and other collaborators. In addition, there will be raffles and interactive activities.

The fair will also be an excellent opportunity to discover the work of publishers and bookstores such as Goodlight Books, Librería Pandearo, and Librería Lobo Blanco, which will be present with their literary offerings.

This event is not only an opportunity to discover new books but also to reflect on the fundamental role that reading plays in people’s lives.

According to María Otárola, director of the Juan Santamaría Historical Cultural Museum, this will be “a weekend dedicated to culture, music, reading, and artistic activities, where each visitor will feel closer to reading and to the museum, with spaces for the most passionate readers as well as those who are just beginning their journey into reading.”

Admission is free and open to the public. The fair, part of the Book Day activities, will be held on April 26 and 27, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., on the street in front of the Juan Santamaría Historical Cultural Museum. During these days, culture and literature will be within everyone’s reach.
