National Symphony Orchestra to Perform in San Rafael de Heredia

The Benemérita National Symphony Orchestra of Costa Rica (OSNCR) will hold a free concert featuring three young Costa Rican conductors: Alejandro Acuña Moreira, Luissana Padilla Chinchilla, and Cristian González Kharina.

The performance will take place this Thursday, April 24, at 7:30 p.m., at the San Rafael Arcángel Parish, in San Rafael de Heredia, where the public will be admitted free of charge.

For the three conductors, this will be their first experience leading the OSNCR in a concert with an audience. The musical program will include works by various composers such as Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Bedřich Smetana, Alberto Ginastera, and the Costa Rican Edín Solís.

This concert is free and open to the public.

Celebrate World Dance Day Starting This Weekend

The National Dance Company begins the celebration of World Dance Day with its Shared Season, featuring free performances on April 25, 26, and 27, Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m., and Sunday at 6 p.m., at the Teatro de la Danza.
The program will include performances by the National Dance Company, featuring the choreographies “Cuerpos Empotrados” and “A solas contigo,” both by director Karol Marenco; as well as the piece “Estuve Pensando” by choreographer Omar Carrum; and “Oír la inmensa noche” by choreographer Dayme de Toro.

Additionally, Danza Universitaria, directed by Hazel González, will present “Ausencias” by choreographer Gloriana Retana. The Cámara Danza UNA Company will offer “Reflexiones sobre lo involuntario y aquello que no podemos decidir,” choreographed by Raúl Martínez and under the artistic direction of Mario Vircha.

The independent sector will present “Punto límite,” directed and choreographed by Luis Piedra, by the IMAGO Danza group; “Amorfo Idilio,” by Colectivo Índigo Escena, composed of Bryam Guzmán and Tayrona Castiglioni; and an excerpt from “Al filo de la Mesa” by Colectiva R3M ft. Andrea Monge.

All activities take place at the Teatro de la Danza, located at the National Center of Culture (Cenac), are free, and open to the public.

Theatrical Show “A la Luna” Returns to the National Theater

The theatrical performance “A la Luna,” a text by Kyle Boza under the direction of Allan Fabricio Pérez, returns this weekend to the National Theater of Costa Rica (TNCR), with three shows scheduled for Saturday, April 26, at 5 p.m.; and Sunday, April 27, at 11 a.m. and 5 p.m.

This story follows a woman whose desires take off like rockets, carrying us on a playful journey from Earth to the Moon.
The cast includes Ana Ulate Sancho, Francella Lizano Vargas, Daniel Murillo García, Denis Quirós Alvarado, Javier Enrique Mendoza Salgado, Fran Rodríguez A, Mildred Margoth Ramírez Azofeifa, Sofía Chaverri Solano, Gabriela Alfaro Castillo, and Andy Marcel Gómez Corrales.

General admission costs ₡8,000 colones; students and seniors with ID, ₡5,500 colones. Tickets are available at www.teatronacional.go.cr and at the physical box office of the TNCR.
