National Symphony Orchestra to Perform Under the Baton of Six-Time GRAMMY Winner Giancarlo Guerrero

The National Symphony Orchestra of Costa Rica (OSNCR) will present its second Official Season Concert of 2025 this Friday, April 4, and Sunday, April 6, at the National Theatre of Costa Rica, under the baton of one of the most internationally recognized Costa Ricans in the field of music: Giancarlo Guerrero, multiple GRAMMY Award winner.

San José, April 1, 2025. The National Symphony Orchestra of Costa Rica (OSNCR) will present its second Official Season Concert of 2025 this Friday, April 4, and Sunday, April 6, at the National Theatre of Costa Rica, under the baton of one of the most internationally recognized Costa Ricans in the field of music: Giancarlo Guerrero, multiple GRAMMY Award winner.

Under Guerrero’s direction, the OSNCR will perform the “Roman Carnival Overture” by Hector Berlioz; the “Violin Concerto” by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky; and “Symphony No. 10” by Dmitri Shostakovich.

The second Official Season Concert of the OSNCR will take place on Friday, April 4, at 8:00 p.m., and on Sunday, April 6, at 10:30 a.m., at the National Theatre of Costa Rica.

Guerrero, a six-time GRAMMY Award winner, is the current Music Director of the Nashville Symphony Orchestra and was recently appointed Music Director of the Sarasota Orchestra, starting with the 2025–2026 season. In recent seasons, he has conducted some of the world’s leading orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the Chicago, Los Angeles, Cleveland, and Dallas Symphony Orchestras, the Frankfurt Radio Symphony, the London Philharmonic, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra, the Galicia Symphony Orchestra, and the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, among others.

“I would like to invite you to my two concerts with the National Symphony Orchestra of Costa Rica, where we will perform works by Hector Berlioz, the ‘Violin Concerto’ by Tchaikovsky featuring the great violinist Cho Liang Lin, and ending with the fantastic ‘Symphony No. 10’ by Dmitri Shostakovich. It will be a privilege for me to work with my great colleagues from the National Symphony Orchestra of Costa Rica and with all the audience at the National Theatre,” said Giancarlo Guerrero.

Tickets for this concert can be purchased through the National Theatre’s website and box office, with prices ranging from ₡5,000 to ₡18,000 colones, depending on the selected seat. A 30% discount will be applied for students and senior citizens with valid ID, available only at the physical box office.

Renowned Guest Soloist
For this concert, the guest soloist will be Taiwanese violinist Cho Liang Lin, who made his debut in the 1980s with the New York Philharmonic and has since regularly performed with the world’s most important orchestras.
